Privacy Policy

Overview

NeuroLock ("the App") is developed and operated by Data Recovery Group LLC, a company registered in the State of Wyoming, United States. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the NeuroLock mobile application.

NeuroLock is a focus and app-blocking app that uses Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls framework) to help you block distracting apps on a schedule or during live focus sessions. Your Screen Time data never leaves your device. All app blocking is handled locally by Apple's framework — NeuroLock never sees, stores, or transmits which apps you use or how long you use them.

1. Data We Collect

1.2 Data Collected by Apple (Subscription)

When you subscribe to NeuroLock Pro ($59.99 USD/year), the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive a transaction confirmation but never see your payment details, credit card number, or Apple ID credentials. Apple's privacy policy governs this data.

1.3 Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or contact information
• We do not collect Screen Time usage data or app usage statistics
• We do not collect location data
• We do not collect device identifiers for tracking purposes
• We do not use any third-party analytics SDKs or advertising frameworks
• We do not sell, share, or trade any personal information

2. Screen Time API & FamilyControls

NeuroLock uses Apple's FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity frameworks. These are privacy-preserving APIs designed by Apple specifically so that apps can manage Screen Time without accessing sensitive usage data.

• FamilyControls — Requests permission to manage app blocking. Authorization is handled entirely by iOS.
• ManagedSettings — Applies and removes app shields (blocking). Operates locally on-device.
• DeviceActivity — Schedules when blocking starts and stops. Runs as a system extension managed by iOS.

At no point does NeuroLock read, access, or transmit your actual Screen Time usage data. The tokens used to identify apps for blocking are opaque — NeuroLock cannot determine which specific app a token represents.

3. Push Notifications

NeuroLock sends local push notifications to inform you when scheduled focus blocks start and end. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely on your device — they do not pass through any external server. We do not use push notification services for marketing, advertising, or tracking.

4. Apple Watch

The NeuroLock Apple Watch companion app communicates with the iPhone app via Apple's Watch Connectivity framework. Session data (timer status, streak count) is synced directly between your devices over Bluetooth/WiFi. No data is transmitted to external servers.

5. Third-Party Services

NeuroLock does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third-party involvement is Apple's App Store for subscription processing, which is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

6. Data Security

Because NeuroLock processes all data on-device and does not transmit personal information to external servers, your data is protected by the security measures built into iOS itself — including device encryption, Secure Enclave, and App Sandbox. We do not operate servers that store user data.

7. Children's Privacy

NeuroLock is designed for individuals managing their own screen time. It is not designed for or marketed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

8. Your Privacy Rights

Because NeuroLock does not collect or store personal information on external servers, most traditional data rights (access, deletion, portability) are exercised directly on your device — by deleting the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed.

8.1 State-Specific Rights

The following supplemental disclosures apply to residents of specific US states. Because NeuroLock does not collect, sell, or share personal information via external servers, most rights are satisfied by default.

California (CPRA)▾

We have not sold or disclosed consumers' personal data for a business purpose in the preceding 12 months.

Colorado (CPA)▾

9. Canadian Users (PIPEDA)

For users in Canada, we comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). As NeuroLock does not collect or transmit personal information to external servers, your privacy is protected by default. All data processing occurs locally on your Apple device. You have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information — exercised by managing or deleting the app directly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to update this privacy policy. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
